What

we are about

Litchfield County Connecticut Heritage Breed Purveyor

Nestled in the heart of Litchfield County, Connecticut, High Silo Farm is proud to be a dedicated purveyor of heritage breeds and timeless flavors. Since 2014, our journey has been rooted in conservation, stewardship, and the belief that preserving agricultural heritage creates food with unmatched depth and integrity.

We began with a small flock of ducks — Welsh Harlequin, Khaki Campbell, and Silver Appleyard — raised first for our family table. Over time, our focus evolved to Muscovy and Silver Appleyard ducks for meat, and Silver Appleyard and Welsh Harlequin ducks for both meat and eggs. Each breed carries a story, and we are committed to honoring those traditions while producing nutrient-rich, flavorful food.

Our work has since expanded to include breeding Ossabaw Island hogs and raising Chocolate and Bourbon Red turkeys, continuing our mission to conserve rare genetics while offering high-quality proteins to our community.

At High Silo Farm, every animal, every seed, and every harvest reflects our dedication to heritage, sustainability, and flavor worth remembering

Passion & Expertise

At High Silo Farm, our work is rooted in history and flavor. By preserving heritage breeds and original meats first brought to the United States centuries ago, we carry forward traditions that date back as far as the 16th century. For us, food is more than sustenance — it’s an experience to be savored, connecting you not only to the land but also to the stories and flavors of generations past. Our promise is simple: premium-quality, flavorful meats raised with care and integrity. Join us in a journey of preservation, flavor, and community.

Clean & Certified

At High Silo Farm, we believe in raising food the way nature intended. Our livestock are cared for without the use of antibiotics, synthetic medicines, or harmful chemicals of any kind — ensuring clean, wholesome proteins you can trust.

Our farmland and Market Garden are proudly Certified Organic by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, reflecting our commitment to soil health, sustainability, and the highest standards of organic production.

customer satisfaction

At High Silo Farm, your satisfaction matters to us. We are committed to providing consistent, high‑quality products that reflect the care and integrity of our work. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with a purchase, please let us know — we stand firmly behind everything we produce and will make it right.

Family Tradition

At High Silo Farm, we believe family traditions are the threads that weave together community and identity. They shape who we are, connect us to one another, and create spaces where stories, meals, and memories are shared.

Our farm is built on that spirit — a place to gather, to savor, and to awaken the senses. Together, we’re cultivating not just food, but a community rooted in heritage, flavor, and connection.

“No meal is complete without a centerpiece dish. Why not let your centerpiece dish be a locally raised heritage turkey this year! It’s the best turkey you will ever taste!”
